Meet Mrs. McGahey

Welcome to my classroom! I am so excited to have the opportunity to teach your child this school year. I love teaching children! I also love reading, cooking, watching college sports (I am a TAR HEEL!) and spending time with my family. I have two wonderful children. My daughter, Ashlyn, is a tenth grade student at Holly Springs High School. My youngest daughter, Kathryn, is a seventh grader at Holly Grove Middle School. I have eighteen years of teaching experience here in Wake County Public School System. This is my eleventh year teaching at Laurel Park Elementary.  I am a National Board Certified teacher that enjoys providing students with a positive learning environment where they can explore math, science, reading, and writing. This year we will go on an educational journey filled with exciting experiences. I hope that each family will take the opportunity to visit our classroom throughout the year as a volunteer.
